Mr. Carmack Smith

Mr. Smith’s profession was in education, graduating from Weakley Training school in Martin. In 1953, he graduated from Lane College in Jackson, Tenn. Mr. Carmack also has a master’s degree in education. With great anticipation, he accepted the first teaching position in Dresden, Tenn. The next position he accepted was P.E. instructor and science teacher at Milan High School, teaching in this position for approximately 20 years. Reflecting over the years, he always enjoyed fishing after school on his way home with his students. Mr. Smith served as an Officer of Gibson County Election Commission for 15 years. The Retired Teachers Association elected him President for eight years. The Martin Methodist Tabernacle Church was his choice of worship, and he served there as chairman for many years. We all appreciate his years of dedication and service to his students.
